Southern California in the Fall
It’s easy to get frustrated at the lack of Fall colors in California,
but even easier to forget how the natural environment of Southern California does change in the fall. From the drastic drop off in heat that the Summer brings, to the beautiful purple skies, the seasons do come here but they take different forms than they do in other parts of the country. For instance, the sage deepens into maroon color, rather than the brighter orange it usually is. Hawks and coyotes become more visible in anticipation of the rain that is yet to come. There are less birds at this time of year, but there are always birds here, living in the evergreen Pepper and Eucalyptus trees. The changing of the seasons is always there, but here, you have to pay a little bit closer attention.
